File sharing

file sharing

Anyone with a computer and internet connection are probably aware of file sharing. In this digital world, we share files every single day. File sharing itself is not a new technology, only the ways in which we share have been drastically improved. Do you remember how we used to share files before the advent of the Internet? Yes, we used to either share the hard copies or copy the files to removable media such as floppy disk, CD/DVD, USB stick etc. and share it. With the onset of the Internet, e-mail served as the popular medium to share files. But the major problem with e-mail is the size restrictions imposed by the service provider (I still remember my email account giving me an error while trying to attach my school play video to share it with my friends.) Thanks to P2P networking system and cloud storage technology, file size is no longer a limitation. Today, there are a lot of online services that made file sharing easy. All you need to do is just drag and drop the files you want to share, click a couple of buttons and you are done.

File sharing is made so easy with all the online tools and websites that people started to share anything and everything often ignoring copyright violations. So be careful while uploading any files. Ask yourself, “Am I violating any copyright law?”

  1. After reading this blog post, I do feel that it is rather basic. There is not much elaboration on the subject matter. Though you do have a bit of a personal tone in some parts, the post is overall not as engaging as it could have been. Comparing file sharing on the Internet is a good comparison, at least. Overall, however, there is not much else to say; try to spend more time writing your blog articles and include more information. With that said, the grammar in your post is still good.

  2. Hello, usha. I agree with you. As you mentioned above, we are so convenient to share file through p2p programs. If I have to say one thing, it is not always right to use. I mean we should be aware of disadvantages about file sharing. we are exposed to infect computer virus which will be critical issues for you. Also, we always should recognize copyright. It sounds easy to follow rules though, sometimes we don't realize them. Therefore, we should share files safely and efficiently. it is very friendly and pointed it out well. Good work.

  3. Usha,
Barring one minor grammar mistake the blog post is well written. That said I think this blog post doesn't elaborate on the topic at hand. You did start the post mentioning the different ways in which you shared your data and how this has evolved over the years. The points that you make about copy right infringement are valid and are a big issue these days especially with cloud storage becoming cheaper and more accessible to the general public.

  4. Hi Usha, I liked your file sharing post. It's short and sweet. You explained basics of file sharing system with describing before and after time period. I agree with you that copyright violations is tricky. It's good idea to ask “Am I violating any copyright law?” question before downloading. Overall, You did excellent job.

  5. Hi,
The picture you have put up will tell us what your blog is precisely. Blog is very exact in conveying your thoughts. It is very clear and neat writing. I am so used to uploading the files in emails. I often forget about the fact that email supports 25MB. But, it is true that P2P has made quite an advance in a very short period of time. These can be used with ease too! This is what makes them even more desirable.
