Are you a big fan of (or at
least interested in) video games or sci-fi movies? If yes, you will appreciate
the role computer graphics play to make you get on the edge. Computer Graphics
is nothing but creating images and integrating different images that would look
realistic but are not actually real/possible to exist in the real world. Have
you watched the movie Avatar? (It’s one of my favorites.) The planet Pandora in the movie is a
beautiful work of computer graphics. We
all know that there is no such planet called Pandora with flying/hanging rocks and
any of its creatures, yet it seems so realistic in the movie (Don’t you think
so?) Computer graphics have taken the sci-fi movies and video games to an
entirely different level.
Computer Graphic applications are not just limited to movies
and video games. They are also used in many simulation models such as cloth modeling, Simulation games, Driving/Flight simulation and even in the field of
medicine to perform some critical surgeries in virtual simulation prior to actual surgery.
In the coming years, with more advances in computer
graphics, we may not even have real humans in the movies except for computer
scientists who design and program all the visual/special effects using computer
graphics. Let’s hope that is not the case (taking humans completely out of the
frame is not too much fun to watch.)
Hey Usha,
ReplyDeleteI really like Avatar as well! The CGI effects in that movie area absolutely stunning to watch. It still amazes me how they are able to incorporate live action actors and CGI so seamlessly. The details of the world was also incredibly complex. Did you know the movie took more than 10 years to produce? Your post was very informative and had a really nice conversational tone to it. The examples you provided really gave a sense of what CGI is. Great post and keep up the awesome work!
Hi, Usha,
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see your blog. Avatar is one of my favorites. It is a great way to use the famous movie to explain your theme. I am a big fan of video games. In fact, I want to develop video games in future. In today's job marketing, you will be popular if you have strong knowledge of computer graphics.
Your post is informative and easy to understand. It is a good experience to read your article. Hope see your next post soon. Keep blogging!
Hello Usha,
ReplyDeleteYou really did a great job in introducing computer graphics. Some examples that are very close to our life just add more attractions to your blog and that would make people get interested in it. What is more, it is a brief and informative introduction which will make people easily know what computer graphic is and how it works.
And I think it would be better if you raise one or more example in how computer graphic works in other area in more detail. Because that although computer graphic was born for computer games, it still can do many useful things due to its powerful ability.
Hey Usha
ReplyDeleteUsing the planet of Pandora is an excellent example. The colors are vibrant and the details are clear. It really does seem to be an authentic world. Avatar definitely showcases the capability of computer generated graphics.
I actually wish you'd gone a bit more in depth about the technologies being used to produce the imagery of the film. Also it'd be cool if you could research what kind of hardware the production people are running so that we'd have a better idea of what exactly goes into the creative process here.
